November 22, 2008According to UK's Metal Hammer magazine, Swedish Viking metallers AMON AMARTH will headline a special, one-off concert at The Forum in London on March 9, 2009. Joining them on the night will be Floridian death metal legends OBITUARY, plus guests to be announced.
This will be the first time that AMON AMARTH has ever brought its full European stage production to the UK shores.
Austrian heavy 'zine Stormbringer.at conducted an interview with AMON AMARTH vocalist Johan Heggprior to the band's November 16, 2008 concert in Vienna, Austria. Watch the 10-minute chat below.
AMON AMARTH's seventh full-length album, "Twilight of the Thunder God", sold more than 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 48 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"I think we were all actually kind of surprised we'd reached that high," Johan Hegg told MTV News. "We're happy we did, and I think one of the key elements that contributed to [the high debut], obviously, is building a fanbase. That's what we've been doing all these years as we've steadily grown as a band. The fact that we've had a couple of successful tours in the U.S. has helped, and the fact that this record actually is really good didn't hurt."
"Twilight of the Thunder God" was recorded at Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden and features several high-profile guest appearances including ENTOMBED singer L.G. Petrov (on "Guardians of Asgaard"),CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist Roope Latvala (who shreds a fierce solo on the track "Twilight of the Thunder God") and Finnish cello metal band APOCALYPTICA (a guest appearance on "Live For The Kill").
